Satya Phalani
Senior Software Developer at UMKC
I work at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. I build and maintain web apps, fix reports, help apps share data, and add AI features to forms and support tools.
My work includes Resource Navigator, a WordPress plugin, and the CRM system it uses. Our CRM stores partner profiles and resource data.
My work at UMKC
I work with a team on these projects.
Resource Navigator
This WordPress plugin helps visitors find resources, view partner profiles and fill out forms. It gets data from our CRM system.
What I did
- Built and updated search, filters, maps and forms.
- Fixed problems with data shared between WordPress and the CRM.
- Updated an existing set of 2,600+ software tests to PHPUnit 11 and prepared signed updates.
Tools: PHP, JavaScript, WordPress, REST APIs, PHPUnit
About Resource Navigator
More details
I fixed event imports and the browser’s Back and Forward button behavior. I also worked on funding forms built with Twig, ACF and custom post types.
I checked the plugin with PHP 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5. When I change a feature, I also check the forms, stored data and navigation it may affect.
CRM reports and data connections
Our CRM stores partner and resource data. Its APIs let WordPress sites send and receive that data.
What I did
- Fixed reports during the move to .NET 10.
- Fixed API problems that affected WordPress forms and resource lists.
- Tested changes in the CRM and the websites connected to it.
Tools: C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, REST APIs, PHP
About the CRM
AI text for partner profiles
I added a Generate button that helps users write partner-profile text. The user can check and change the text before saving it.
What I did
- Connected the form to an OpenAI service using profile details and prompt instructions.
- Added checks for errors and usage limits.
- Moved the requests through the CRM API and returned the draft to the form.
Tools: OpenAI API, system prompts, PHP, JavaScript, CRM APIs
More details
I first built the feature in December 2024. In March 2025, I moved the OpenAI requests behind the CRM API.
Python support tool
I built a Python tool that collects support-ticket details and related information. It uses AI to help write support guidance.
What I did
- Pulled ticket details from other tools through APIs.
- Set up regular runs and kept a record of past work.
- Added checks for results already sent, including when a job runs again.
Tools: Python, ticket APIs, AI/LLM services, scheduled jobs
Site updates and support
I help keep partner sites and web apps working. This includes PHP updates, update packages, and fixes for problems on live sites.
What I did
- Prepared signed update packages and checked them with software tests.
- Helped update sites to PHP 8.4 and fixed problems across apps and servers.
- Fixed form labels and helped keyboard users move through forms.
Tools: Linux, WP-CLI, Git, CI/CD, PHP, automated testing
